But What About When Things Don’t Go Your Way?

So here I am, being on my high horse, commending life and all the ups it brings you when you’re treading along on the right path. But what about when something doesn’t go your way? Here you are in the life you chose, where everything was just making perfect sense and then all of sudden you get a punch in the gut. Something important to you hasn’t gone your way. Does that mean you’re not on the right path? Does that mean you need to go back to the drawing board and decide on a new path to take?

No. Well at least I don’t believe so…

Chances are, you’ve had good run. Chances are, you’ve been mighty successful in many other aspects of the path you have chosen. So what if you didn’t get the lead role in Romeo and Juliet or you were passed by for that promotion at work. Yeah it sucks. But don’t forget about all the other positive amazing things you have accomplished up until now. Don’t forget how happy you have been and how happy you are. You are bound to get knocked back here and then, it doesn’t mean your dreams are dashed. It means you just have to work harder, push further and grow from that setback.

Not everything is going to go 100% your way, oh how I wish… haha. No, you are going to get knocked back. Not all the time, but sometimes, and when you do… Handle it gracefully, knowing that it’s not the end of the world (even though it feels like it in that moment) and continue believing in your skills and abilities. Applaud yourself for the hard work you have put in and have confidence in yourself, because this set back does not diminish your worth. It does not dictate who you are or who you will become.

It is just a small blip on your life radar and not a defining moment in your life. How you react during and after those moments is what defines you.

When life knocks you down, get back up, smile and be grateful for everything else you have in your life and push on forward. Learn from it, grow from it, feel like a better human because you have overcome it and then keep smiling because you deserve it.
